Dublin Pub Quizzes: Team Up and Meet People

Also in: HamburgMunichLondonChicagoEdinburghBristol

Ten pub quiz nights in Dublin, in Rialto, Rathmines, Glasnevin, Phibsborough, Drumcondra, the Liberties and Grand Canal Dock. When and where they are, how big the teams are and what they cost.

Four friends in their late twenties and thirties stepping out of a pub door onto a narrow cobbled lane on a dry autumn night after a quiz; one woman holds up the crumpled answer sheet and laughs, one man pulls on his coat mid-sentence, two others link arms, warm light falling from the doorway and the small windows behind them

A pub quiz is an easy way to meet people in Dublin: a set evening, a small team at one table and time to talk between rounds. We only list quiz nights that announce their dates on their own page or channel.

After the quiz

Between rounds and after the answers are read out is the best time to talk. Simple openers work: "Do you come here often?", "Which question annoyed you most?", "Do you know another good quiz?" And if the team got on well, arrange to meet at the next quiz.

For people who run a quiz

If you run a quiz like these, you know the moment after the answers when the teams head off without swapping numbers. before is a web app for organisers. At the start you show the QR code on your phone; guests check in with it in their browser, without installing an app, and anyone who likes takes a selfie. The day after, the afterparty is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Anyone who shared a selfie sees everyone else who shared one there and can press the button for meeting again for up to five people. At 8 pm everyone finds out at the same time who wants to see each other again, and only then does a chat open. One-sided wishes stay invisible, and nobody receives a rejection. Nobody needs a profile. More on the page before for organisers.

The afterparty opens after your event

When you check in at an event powered by before, you get the link by email, no later than 24 hours after it ends.
