Hamburg Pub Quizzes: Team Up and Meet People

Also in: Munich

Nine pub quiz nights in Hamburg, in St. Pauli, Eimsbüttel, the Schanze, Barmbek, Harburg and Bergedorf. When and where they are, how big the teams are and what they cost.

A small team at a wooden table in a bright pub with large windows, bent over an answer sheet; one writes, two lean in laughing, one thinks with his hand at his chin, glasses, pencils and pretzels on the table

A pub quiz is an easy way to meet people in Hamburg: a set evening, a small team at one table and time to talk between rounds. We only list quiz nights that announce their dates on their own page or channel.

The dates are on the page, and the group also announces new ones in a WhatsApp group and on Instagram. Kategorisch Fragwürdig

How to find your quiz

  • Coming alone: At the KörberHaus and at ASTRA you're explicitly welcome on your own. Elsewhere, ask beforehand or at the bar whether a team has room.
  • Team size: Up to five at Kategorisch Fragwürdig and on some Galopper nights, up to six without a penalty at the Old Dubliner, up to eight at QUIZLABOR, at least four at the Monkey-Quiz.
  • Day of the week: Monday to Wednesday at the Galopper, QUIZLABOR on Tuesdays, F+K and Pubquiz 73 on Wednesdays, ASTRA on Thursdays.
  • Language: German at the Old Dubliner; if you'd rather play in English, ask the other quizzes beforehand.
  • Kind of quiz: Picture puzzles and logic at Kategorisch Fragwürdig, music quizzes and themed nights at the Galopper.
  • Signing up: Reservation by email at the Galopper, tickets at QUIZLABOR and the Monkey-Quiz, registration at the KörberHaus; no reservation at Pubquiz 73 and the Old Dubliner, sign-up on the evening at F+K.

After the quiz

Between rounds and after the answers are read out is the best time to talk. Simple openers work: "Do you come here often?", "Which question annoyed you most?", "Do you know another good quiz?" And if the team got on well, arrange to meet at the next quiz.

For people who run a quiz

If you run a quiz like these, you know the moment after the answers when the teams head off without swapping numbers. before is a web app for organisers. At the start you show the QR code on your phone; guests check in with it in their browser, without installing an app, and anyone who likes takes a selfie. The day after, the afterparty is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Anyone who shared a selfie sees everyone else who shared one there and can press the button for meeting again for up to five people. At 8 pm everyone finds out at the same time who wants to see each other again, and only then does a chat open. One-sided wishes stay invisible, and nobody receives a rejection. Nobody needs a profile. More on the page before for organisers.

The afterparty opens after your event

When you check in at an event powered by before, you get the link by email, no later than 24 hours after it ends.
