Manchester Pub Quizzes: Team Up and Meet People

Also in: HamburgMunichLondonChicagoEdinburghBristolDublinVancouverSydneyMelbourneBrisbane

Eight pub quiz nights in Manchester, in the Northern Quarter, Ancoats, Chinatown, NOMA, Symphony Park, Didsbury and Worsley. When and where they are, how big the teams are and what they cost.

A woman in her late twenties, still in her coat with a bag over her shoulder, stops at a quiz team's table in a busy pub with bare red-brick walls and tall arched windows on an autumn evening; a man holds out a pencil to her with a smile, the woman beside him smiles up at her, a fourth laughs as he points at the answer sheet, warm lamp light and the last blue of the evening in the windows

A pub quiz is an easy way to meet people in Manchester: a set evening, a small team at one table and time to talk between rounds. We only list quiz nights that the venue or the quiz organisers announce on their own page or channel.

After the quiz

Between rounds and after the answers are read out is the best time to talk. Simple openers work: "Do you come here often?", "Which question annoyed you most?", "Do you know another good quiz?" And if the team got on well, arrange to meet at the next quiz.

For people who run a quiz

If you run a quiz like these, you know the moment after the answers when the teams head off without swapping numbers. before is a web app for organisers. At the start you show the QR code on your phone; guests check in with it in their browser, without installing an app, and anyone who likes takes a selfie. The day after, the afterparty is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Anyone who shared a selfie sees everyone else who shared one there and can press the button for meeting again for up to five people. At 8 pm everyone finds out at the same time who wants to see each other again, and only then does a chat open. One-sided wishes stay invisible, and nobody receives a rejection. Nobody needs a profile. More on the page before for organisers.

The afterparty opens after your event

When you check in at an event powered by before, you get the link by email, no later than 24 hours after it ends.
