Vienna Supper Clubs: Shared Tables and Dinner with Strangers

Also in: BerlinHamburgCologneMunichZurichLondonParis (French)Barcelona (Spanish)Rio de Janeiro (Portuguese)

Nine supper clubs and shared tables in Vienna, from a pay-what-you-can community kitchen to a Thai dinner at one long table. Where, how often, what it costs.

Guests in their late twenties and thirties at a long wooden table in a vaulted cellar with whitewashed brick arches in the evening, warm light from pendant lamps; one woman passes a large bowl of roast pumpkin across the table, two laugh, one man tears off a piece of bread, water carafes and sharing plates between them

At a shared table you sit next to people you have never met, and the food gives you the first thing to talk about. In Vienna that ranges from a community kitchen that runs on donations to a Thai dinner at one long table. We only list tables that announce their dates on their own page or channel. Times change, so check the organiser's page before you go.

For people who host a supper club

If you host a table like these, you know the moment at the door when guests leave without swapping numbers. before is a web app for organisers. When guests arrive you show the QR code on your phone; they check in with it in their browser, without installing an app, and anyone who likes takes a selfie. The day after, the afterparty is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Anyone who shared a selfie sees everyone else who shared one there and can press the button for meeting again for up to five people. At 8 pm everyone finds out at the same time who wants to see each other again, and only then does a chat open. One-sided wishes stay invisible, and nobody receives a rejection. Nobody needs a profile. More on the page before for organisers.

The afterparty opens after your event

When you check in at an event powered by before, you get the link by email, no later than 24 hours after it ends.
