Dinners, running, padel, language exchanges, board games, a quiz, reading and a hackerspace: nine ways to meet people in Valencia offline. Where, when, how much.

Six people around two small metal tables on a terrace on a narrow street in Valencia in the late afternoon: someone passes a plate of fartons, there are glasses of horchata and water, one woman laughs, one man leans in to listen and another woman tells a story with her hands; tiled façades and plants on the balconies behind them

Meeting people in a city is easier when you attend a recurring event: a language exchange on Thursday, a dinner on Wednesday, a games night every two weeks. You see the same faces again, and a stranger quickly becomes someone you know. In Valencia, many of these meet-ups take place in English or in several languages. This guide only lists events that the organiser describes on its own page.

Nexo Padel (Tu Pádel Valencia, Patraix)

Nexo Social Club, an open club for newcomers, travellers and locals, plays padel on Fridays: at Nexo Padel, you play for an hour on two courts at Tu Pádel Valencia, Carrer dels Fogainers 5, in Patraix. All levels are welcome, and on site the group splits up by level; there are eight places. The time is on each event's page, so check it before you go. It costs 10 € per person including court hire (2026), and you can rent a racket for an extra charge. You RSVP on Meetup and buy a ticket on the club's website. Eating and meeting new people

Timeleft (restaurants and cafés)

An app that brings you together with people you don't know yet. In Valencia, dinners take place on Wednesdays at 9 pm and meet-ups at cafés on Saturdays at 3 pm. You sign up on your own, the app puts you in a group, and when you book you choose Spanish or English; the app tells you the venue before the meet-up. You need a subscription, whose price is not shown on its page, and you pay your own bill at the venue (2026). Timeleft in Valencia

Going alone

Pick one format and go three times before you judge it. The first time is often the most awkward, and every time you return, you are more likely to see familiar faces. A shared activity can make it easier to start a conversation by giving you something to talk about: the language, the game, the book, the route.

Good openers are deliberately ordinary: "Is this your first time too?", "How did you find out about it?", "Which language are you practising?" Ask one follow-up question and listen to the answer.

Making plans to meet again

A good conversation does not turn into a second meeting on its own. Before you leave, suggest something concrete: "Are you coming to the games night again in two weeks?" or "I'm going to the language exchange on Thursday, want to come?" A specific suggestion is easier to answer than "We should do something sometime".

Try it this week

  • Pick one format from the table above
  • Put the date in your calendar and check it on the organiser's page
  • Arrive five minutes early and talk to one person
  • Before you leave, suggest a specific plan to meet again

For organisers

If you host evenings like these, you know the moment: people get on well and then lose touch. before is a web app for organisers. Guests check in at the door with a QR code in their browser, without installing an app, and anyone who likes takes a selfie. The day after, the afterparty is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Anyone who shared a selfie sees everyone else who shared one there and can press the button for meeting again for up to five people. From 8 pm each guest sees in the app whether their wish is mutual, and only then does a chat open. One-sided wishes stay invisible, and nobody receives a rejection. Nobody needs a profile. More on the page before for organisers.

The afterparty opens after your event

When you check in at an event powered by before, you get the link by email, no later than 24 hours after it ends.
